Eight schools from across the Diocese came together at Brentwood
Ursuline High School to take part in the CJSR (Commission for Justice & Social Responsibility) Schools Day for Justice & Peace. Workshops included Pax Christi, ECCR and CAFOD.
The day was called “Open to Change?” and it was hoped that the workshops would give the students an opportunity to find out more about injustices happening around the world and how they can take Justice & Peace back to their schools.
The CAFOD workshop looked at campaigning and in particular the Climate Justice campaign. At the end of each workshop students put their hand prints on a giant banner that will be sent to Gordon Brown in the run up to the UN talks in Copenhagen.
Pictures taken during the day will also be uploaded to the Wave picture wall. Click here to see your photo!
The day closed with a liturgy that included pledges made by each school to take forward various Justice & Peace issues in their schools and also a group action for Stand Up Against Poverty
Thank you to CJSR, Brentwood Ursuline and all staff and students from Canon Palmer, Grays Convent, Ilford Ursuline High School, St Angela’s, St Benedicts, St Thomas More and Trinity High School.
