Archbishop Romero Anniversary
All are invited to a Mass to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the death of Archbishop Romero in Brentwood Cathedral at 7pm on Wednesday 24th March. It will be followed by a talk by Sarah Smith-Pearse from CAFOD in the large hall.
Oscar Romero was a priest and bishop in El Salvador. His love for his people who were suffering violence and oppression led him to take their side and to denounce their oppressors.
God’s reign is already present on our earth in mystery. When the Lord comes, it will be brought to perfection.
That is the hope that inspires Christians. We know that every effort to better society, especially when injustice and sin are so ingrained, is an effort that God blesses, that God wants, that God demands of us’.
These were the last words of Oscar Romero before he was shot whilst celebrating Mass.
Please join us to pray for Justice and Peace at this special Mass during Lent.
Organised by the Brentwood Cathedral Justice & Peace Group.
