Jessica (10) is finalist in the JustGiving Young Fundraiser of the Year awards

Jessica points to her nomination

Last night Jessica attended the JustGiving Awards 2011 after reaching the finals of Young Fundraiser of the Year.

You may remember last year Jessica gave up her bed for Lent to raise money for Haiti, raising over £1300 for CAFOD’s emergency work in Haiti. It was wonderful that this achievement was recognised by the JustGiving community, first with her nomination, and then getting through to the finals.

Jessica, her father James and brother Kevin arrived at The Emirates Stadium in London to take part in the celebrations, joined by Denise from the office.

After a lovely meal and uplifting singing from “The Choir With No Name” it was time for the awards ceremony. Our table also included representatives from ShelterBox, nominated as Charity of the Year – People’s Choice and we were very excited when they won their category. We all had our fingers crossed for Jessica. Unfortunately Jessica was pipped to the post.

We are all extremely proud of Jessica for reaching the finals.

The JustGiving Awards celebrate the amazing achievements of the JustGiving community over the past year. It is their way of recognising just some of the outstanding individuals, teams and charities who together have helped to raise over £200 million for worthy causes on JustGiving this year.
