2 days 11 volunteers 919 signatures at V Fest 2011

V2011 volunteers

Eleven volunteers joined Denise from the CAFOD Brentwood office for a weekend of campaigning at V2011 in Chelmsford.

For the most part the weather was brilliant, with just one downpour on the Saturday afternoon.

We were encouraging festival goers to take part in the Don’t Drop the Ball campaign. Over 900 people either signed the action card or our giant football – and all signatures will be sent to the Chancellor, George Osbourne MP.

James, Olli and Siobhan perfected their juggling skills over the weekend and lots of festival goers had a go themselves. There were other ball skills displayed – Stephen was the keepy-uppy expert.

The CAFOD stall was by the VIP entrance, so we were all on the look out for well-known faces. The cast of Skins dropped by and signed the campaign, while some of the cast of The Only Way is Essex were happy to pose for pictures. Justin Lee Collins and Pixie Lott also had their photos taken. The paparazzi were also hanging around the stall hoping to spot celebs which all added to the excitement.

In the evening the volunteers were free to catch the bands – with Rihanna perhaps the most popular. Arctic Monkeys, Eminem, Dizzee Rascal and lots more added up to another brilliant V weekend.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our stall and signed the campaign cards and of course a big thank you to our great volunteers – Adele, Dermot, James, Josh, Istvan, Kathryn, Olli, Roisin, Siobhan, Stephen and Stuart.
