St Teresa’s School, Basildon – Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink!

Mary writes:
“Water was the theme for the whole school assembly at St. Teresa’s school in Basildon. The children heard about 10 year old Rosanna who had to walk for hours each day to get dirty water from the river to use for drinking, washing and all their needs. Now through the help of CAFOD, they have a bore hole just 10 minutes away and their whole life has changed – they do not get so ill, have more time work, play and have family time.

Some of the girls carried a bucket of 4 litres of water around the hall and the children were horrified when Schools Volunteer Kate pretended to drink a glass of very dirty water. The children were very interactive and enjoyed the assembly.”
