David Worsfold from Cathedral Parish, Brentwood has sent the following update on World Gifts:
“Over the last three years, Brentwood Cathedral’s parish community has made a special effort in the run-up to Christmas to remember those less fortunate than themselves in a very tangible way.
Working with CAFOD, the parish has raised nearly £8,000 to fund the drilling of a water bore hole, the building of a health clinic and, this year, fill a ‘stocking’ full of vital resources for communities in developing countries.
During Advent, an army of ‘Tiny Tims’ with colourful collecting tins has collected money as people leave the Sunday masses at the Cathedral, ensuring that the stocking of presents was quickly filled.”
On reaching this year’s target, Cathedral Dean, Father Martin Boland said:
It is wonderful that the community here at Brentwood Cathedral has been inspired to help those in our world have so little. Working through CAFOD, the generosity of the community has raised funds that will contribute to the sustained development of communities in the world. I am immensely proud of what the Brentwood Cathedral parish has achieved during these past years and thank CAFOD for giving us the inspiration to make a difference to the most needy in our world this Christmas time
CAFOD Brentwood says a huge “thank you” to parishers for their generosity.
