So, we have now split into smaller groups and the team I am leading has moved to Makeni. We are staying at the Pastoral Centre, pictured, part of the large complex of the Diocese of Makeni. We are being hosted by Caritas Makeni. The complex has a drop-in centre for street children, a night shelter and after school play facilities. It also has a centre to teach livelihood skills to young people to give them an opportunity to improve their circumstances.
Today we visited a centre, funded by Irish Aid, to teach tailoring skills and another to teach catering skills, to young women. Don’t be surprised if you see me swishing around in an outfit made in Sierra Leone!
