Primary schools make a Harvest for the world

26 schools around the Diocese made a place at their table for one of CAFOD Brentwood’s team of schools volunteers to visit. This is an amazing achievement and we thank both the volunteers and the schools for supporting the work of CAFOD.

Using the parable of Feeding the Five Thousand, a story about sharing, where thousands of people came together as one family and shared what they had between them so that nobody went hungry, pupils were asked to think about people in this country and all over the world who do not have enough to eat. There is enough food to go round and we need to share it as Jesus did.

In some schools, pupils shared bread between them, others held Big Share lunches.

Generous God,
We thank you for all your gifts.
Help us to think of the needs of others.
You show us how to love and share with everyone.
We pray that we may truly share the harvest
And so help our sisters and brothers
Throughout the world.
Amen.
