Saying goodbye to Chigwell Convent

After 21 years, CAFOD Brentwood will be moving from Chigwell Convent on 30 June as the community require the space.

On Wednesday 24 June we held a Leaving Mass for supporters and volunteers to thank the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary for their hospitality and support over the previous 21 years.

There are staff changes too – sadly Denise Grierson will be leaving CAFOD on 10 July and Joanna Jarvis and Mary Matthews will be moving to other areas within CAFOD from 1 August.

There will continue to be a local base in the Diocese and we are currently recruiting for a dedicated member of staff who will take over the role of supporting our volunteers.

Until this time, CAFOD Brentwood will be working out of the CAFOD Westminster office (thank you CAFOD Westminster!). The contact details are: Church of Christ the King, 29 Bramley Road, London. N14 4HE. Telephone: 020 8449 6970. The CAFOD Brentwood email brentwood@cafod.org.uk continues.

We will of course keep you updated of our new office and staff member.

Joanna, Denise and Mary each have very happy memories of working alongside our supporters and volunteers in Brentwood over the years. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have given us and to CAFOD, over the years. We are sure CAFOD can count on your prayers and support in the future.

Thank you also for all the cards, flowers and messages of goodwill we have received.
